Although families won’t have to pay for meals, they must still complete qualification forms for their local school. Completed forms allow schools to qualify for meal REIMBURSEMENT from the state as well as funding for;
Instructional specialist staff (ex. Reading Interventionists, Math Tutors, Academic & Behavior Aids)
Teaching supplies and materials
Counselors and Social Workers

Professional Learning for staff
Parent and Community engagement supplies and activities

Because medical costs can be expensive, Alpena Public Schools does provide families the opportunity to purchase student accident insurance on their student through Student Assurance Servies, Inc.
This supplemental policy would assist with your out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e. deductible) should your student sustain an accidental injury while coverage is in effect. Also, if you do not have any insurance on your student, this would be primary for accidental injuries. There is a variety of coverage options and premiums are a one-time payment for the school year.

Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary is playing an important role in an expedition happening in the Pacific Ocean!
Exploration of Wake Island's Deep Sea and Maritime Heritage
The sanctuary will serve as a pop-up expedition command center from September 1 to 10 while the Expedition Vessel Nautilus searches for Hayate, the first Japanese warship sunk during the Battle of Wake. Maritime Archaeologists located at TBNMS will help identify these cultural sites.
This expedition offers a great deal of learning, and you can view the entire journey via livestream from anywhere. It's happening now. This event page provides more detail and links to a press release and media kit from NOAA Ocean Exploration.
Any help getting the word out is appreciated.
